Worker Killed in Foundry Accident

Lynchburg, VA – a 56-year old worker was killed when he was trapped by a fallen piece of scrap metal at a Foundry in the city.

A statement from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Roanoke said the victim, identified as Jesse Horsley, died of mechanical asphyxia and the manner of death was accidental.

Horsely was working at Griffin Pipe Products Co., 10 Adams St when the accident occurred.

According to VDLI Southwest Region Safety Supervisor Lee Willis, state investigators are allowed to take up to six months to complete the probe. He declined to say where on the company’s property the incident happened.
