Waukegan, IL – A massive explosion at a silicone chemicals plant rocked the neighborhood Friday night, killing 2 employees, injuring 3 more, while two are still unaccounted for.
The explosion happened at AB Specialty Silicones, Sunset avenue, Waukegan, about 40 miles north of Chicago,
Waukegan Fire Marshal, Steven Lenzi said authorities weren’t able to continue any further recovery efforts until they brought in equipment to dismantle the “heavy unsafe structural remains.”
