El Cajon, CA – Hazmat crews have been cleaning up a 2000-gallon chemical spill at a water treatment chemical supply facility in the city.
Heartland Fire and Rescue’s Chris Jensen told SUN News that concentrated bleach leaked out of a storage tank and reached a secondary container, a three-foot concrete wall.
The leak was discovered by an employee at Abcana Industries on Monday. Some of the material spread to private properties, public areas, and into a storm drain.
San Diego Environmental Services took samples and measured the vapors, and determined there was no risk for fumes.
The County is investigating the cause, and will determine if any fines apply.
