DULUTH, MN – The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating an early morning fatality on the Bong Bridge in Duluth.
According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, a construction worker was killed and another injured shortly after 7 a.m. in an incident involving a forklift.
Both workers are employed by Lunda Construction, based out of Black River Falls, WI. Corporate officials did not provide any comment.
The incident occurred on a Wisconsin DOT-run construction project.
“We offer our sincerest condolences to the workers friends family and coworkers. Our top priority is keeping construction projects safe for workers the community and traveling public. We will work with other agencies to review safety procedures and make sure all safety guidelines are followed,” a statement from WisDOT read.
The St. Louis County Medical Examiner is expected to release the name of the deceased once an autopsy is performed.
OSHA is investigating.
