INSTITUTE, West Virginia — Emergency responders will participate in an exercise this week that simulates a chemical release at Bayer CropScience’s facility in Institute.
Kanawha County Emergency Management says the exercise will include a shelter-in-place order for the immediate area surrounding the facility, including West Virginia State University. The reverse 911 system to call Institute residents will be activated, along with an outdoor warning siren at West Virginia State.
The exercise is scheduled for Tuesday evening.
Participants include the emergency management office, Bayer, Metro 911, and local fire departments.
