Orlando, FL – Disneyworld authorities are being tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding the death of 33-year-old cast member Juan Alberto Ojeda who was pronounced dead at the scene on Monday near the Pop Century Resort and a neighboring golf course.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) said it received an emergency call at about 9:15 a.m. to respond to a guard gate by the resort.
Authorities found Ojeda unconscious, who was later pronounced dead by the Reedy Creek Fire Department.
Describing Ojeda’s death as “an industrial accident”, Walt Disney World Resort President, George A. Kalogridis, said the company is providing resources and care for those affected.
His statement didn’t provide any details about the nature of the accident, which remains under investigation.
Construction continues on an aerial transportation system that will use gondolas to connect hotels including the Pop Century resort to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
