Construction Worker Rescued from Accident on Site

CLEARWATWER, FL – A man was rescued by Clearwater Fire and Rescue Tuesday morning after getting his leg stuck at a construction site.

The call came in around 11:07 a.m. that a 42-year-old construction worker’s leg got trapped between a plate tamper and a 42-inch concrete pipe, which were both within a construction trench at Pierce Street and South Martin Luther King Junior Avenue.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue units arrived on scene at 11:13 a.m. They wedged wood pieces around the plate tamper and the pipe and then they were able to extricate the patient at 11:24 a.m. by using hydraulic rescue tools.

The construction worker works for Cypress Gulf Development Corporation out of Tampa. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his foot and lower leg.
