East Marin Island, CA – A construction worker was pronounced dead Monday after crews battled to free him from under rubble from a retaining concrete wall that had collapsed on him.
According to authorities, the man had been working on a construction project on the island at the time of the incident.
Crews arriving on fireboats and a medical helicopter were working to transport the man’s body off the island late Monday afternoon.
Bob Sinnott, a deputy fire chief with the San Rafael Fire Department said he had no information on the construction project, who owns the island and who’s in charge of activities there.
The victim hasn’t been identified.
