Construction Contractor Dies Following Pipe Rupture

Olathe, KS – A construction contractor has died on the site of Garmin International Inc.’s $200 million headquarters expansion.

An Olathe fire official said 28-year old Jubal D Hubbard was working on a high-pressure valve Monday afternoon when it ruptured. The accident occurred near a warehouse loading dock.

According to officials, the contractor suffered severe burns. No other injuries were reported.

“Local authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the incident, and it is inappropriate for Garmin to comment on any specifics at this time,” Garmin said in a statement.
