The ERG is updated and issued every four years by DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
The current edition is the 2012 ERG. The next edition, the 2016 ERG, is anticipated to be released in early 2016.
Anyone who works with hazardous materials, including shippers, carriers, and emergency responders will want the new 2016 ERG to be sure they have the latest emergency response information.
The update includes an expanded table of placards, updated pipeline emergency response information, as well as information about Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) markings. PHMSA has a preview of the updates on their website with more information.
