Texas Worker Injured After Being Denied Safety Equipment

HOUSTON, TX – A Katy construction company will be issued the maximum penalty by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration  (OSHA) after it failed to provide safety equipment to a temporary worker who fell 12 feet through a roof and was hospitalized.

The company, Katy-based Cotton Commercial USA Inc., waited three days to report the incident, according to OSHA documents.

OSHA also found that the temporary employee asked for required safety equipment but never received it.

Michaels said the company willfully violated safety rules.

Cotton was issued the maximum penalty of $70,000, which is part of $362,500 in fines for seven safety violations that were issued in this case.
